In security operations, "reasonable force" is defined as the minimum level of force necessary to protect oneself or others. This principle is critical in ensuring that responses to threats are proportionate to the situation at hand. It emphasizes the importance of using only as much force as is needed to address a threat or prevent harm, rather than applying excessive force that could lead to legal repercussions or escalate a situation unnecessarily.

The application of minimum force is designed to reflect a balance between the rights of individuals and the need for security personnel to maintain order and ensure safety. By adhering to this principle, security professionals can act decisively while still respecting the law and individual rights.

Factors contributing to the determination of reasonable force include the nature of the threat, the context of the incident, and the behavior of individuals involved. This careful consideration promotes a safer environment for both security personnel and the public they serve.
